When this muscle is damaged it can also result in difficulty breathing, tendonitis, or tingling in the lower arms. What are Trigger Points

When we move these fibers then expand and contract. A trigger point is a tight, small area within this muscle fiber. It locks the strand of muscle in place in the form of a trigger point. Trace a line horizontally around your back and feel for sensitivity, this is the upper trigger point. The lower is located closer to the pelvic region.

A trigger point is when an area of muscle becomes tight, which results in a lump. Either under the skin or visible on the surface which is painful to touch. Two primary areas can develop trigger points on the latissimus dorsi, the upper and lower back.

Causes of Latissimus Dorsi Trigger Points

There are several causes of latissimus dorsi trigger points. These include small tears, tense muscles, weakness, and dehydration. This is because muscle fibers are constantly in motion throughout our bodies. When they become overworked or injured it can result in our muscle fibers being unable to relax.
